Planting Green Roots

Planting Green RootsBMW has announced that the manufacture of their new three-cylinder petrol engine intended for use in their i8 electric supercar will take place at the Hams Hall plant in Birmingham.

The move was entirely due to currency hedging strategy so, unfortunately, the move will lead to no further investment or job creation. “We have a lot of sales in pounds and we manufacture a lot in pounds, which gives us a natural ability to balance these things out,” Ian Robertson, head of sales, explained.

The BMW i8 hybrid, which boasts a fuel economy of 78mpg will be on sale in 2013 for around £100,000.
