Car prices rise amid car scrappage scheme

10/03/2010

Car prices rise amid car scrappage schemeAn investigation carried out by What Car? has revealed that some large firms, such as Ford, have increased their new car prices by up to a third, prompting claims that they have used the car scrappage scheme initiated by the government in May 2009 as a smokescreen.

Ford claims, however, that the weak sterling, which has lost more than 30 per cent of its value in the last 18 months, has forced the auto industry as a whole to raise prices in the UK.

Peter Lawto, deputy editor of What Car? disagrees, stating that "some of the price rises take your breath away. We have some sympathy for car manufacturers but this is opportunist so we shouldn't feel too sorry for them."

It's quite clear that in these economically unsure times, taking good care of your current car is of vital importance. NSN provides both expertise and fantastic value in the field of car servicing, so book your next car service with us today and save yourself some cash.
