Discount Car Service Tips

There is a big difference between trying to get all the value out of car servicing and simply being cheap about car servicing. Value car servicing keeps the car running for years, whereas a cheap car service is going to cause problems later in the vehicles life. Here are some tips that will prolong the life of the vehicle and save money at the same time:

• Follow the maintenance guide from the manufacturer - this will keep your warranty intact and will ensure your car is always working at an optimum level.

• Combine labour for multiple jobs – if parts need to be replaced on your vehicle, this may give you the perfect opportunity to have other areas and parts looked at. Many garages and service repair centres may be willing to combine labour for jobs that service the same area of the vehicle. For example, timing belt replacement is a common and sometimes costly replacement item. For many vehicles there are other items, such as water pumps and alternators, which require most of the same parts to be removed for replacement anyway. Often times, it is worth it to change parts out while the timing belt is being changed as a preventative measure.

• Discount car service centres – these specialised services may even recommend some of these ideas, as well as others, to help the owner ultimately save money.
